The wrestling match between child and tree has been more brutal than anticipated. Sophia, the Angel of Destruction, is not deterred by prickly branches or mommy yelling. She is determined to conquer the tree. Christmas Tree, haggard but proud, is struggling to remain standing after having two legs snapped off of the tripod it stands on, not to mention having its ornaments ripped off and branches mangled.
Ideas, anyone?

the tree in a play pen where she can't reach. i have heard that works unless she can scale the walls and jump in with the tree. or put her in a play pen. hahahaha! good luck. emily has already attacked our tree like a new kitten pulling all the ornaments off the bottom and breaking them. you are not alone.
We put ours on top of the tv cabinet. It is four feet off the ground there and I leave no dangling ornaments to grab from below.
Maybe get one of those cheesy trees from the dollar store for her to decorate and 'play' with and she will leave the big one alone.
Grandma B said she used to nail a little tree to an old, table, to preserve and protect it. Guess that presupposes Sophia can't climb on the table. Face it, she is too smart to be deterred!
My son Matthew rolled up in the garland regularly as a tot. Elizabeth handled every ornament (ooooh pretty . . . CRASH!). And on and on the list goes. BUT . . . we survived and laugh about it all now. No magic solution, just have your camera and a broom ready (will make for funny blog posts). ; )
The fact that you are in the 60 degree weather and putting up a tree? Nice! We hit a high of 30 today...not so nice.
That's a tough one with Sophia...I suppose that a little hand slapping might work, or some serious glares...either way, good memories to laugh about for next year, right?
